Depending on your destination, investigate the local public transportation options.  If you can travel via bus, elevated train, or subway system, opt for them instead.  You will not only help to reduce overall emissions but get a better feel for the city as well.

Choose a Non-Stop Flight

The more a flight stops, or more often you change planes, the more fuel will be used.  If possible, book a non-stop flight to your destination, or as few stops as you can.

Stay at a Green Hotel

Plan your trip ahead of time and find accommodation at a local green hotel.  Green hotels reduce their carbon footprint through a series of initiatives practiced at the hotel, such as recycling and alternative energy.  If you can’t find a green hotel in your location, practice green habits during your stays such as reusing towels and linens, turning off lights, and turning down your thermostat.
