With the widespread unrest in the world today, meeting planners often hear from clients who are concerned about their safety while traveling. Everything from crime to an internal conflict to terrorism can affect the security of a country you may be considering visiting. Fortunately, two lists help give us direction for clients who are concerned about this issue: These are the US State Department’s Travel Advisory levels, and the Global Peace Index. The experts at Skyscanner have combined these two sources, and come up with a list of the safest countries to visit in the world. Here are the top five, and why they are worth visiting.

Zambia

Not only is this country the safest in the world, but it is also one of the most exciting destinations for those interested in rugged adventure. Zambia is the home of Victoria Falls and a countless number of exciting safari adventures. Follow the most massive known wildebeest migration run, stalk lions from the safety of your jeep, or take a helicopter tour of the open African plains.

Slovenia

Nestled just southeast of Italy and Austria, this beautiful country has all the charm of south-central Europe, with the security of being number two on the Skyscanner safety list. Slovenia is home to a large and lovely cave system, world-renowned castles, and a wide range of high-quality restaurants and shops.

Japan

Come see the original home of the lovey Washington, DC cherry trees, while enjoying the confidence of knowing that you are in a country of surpassing safety. In addition to the beautiful cherry groves, Japan hosts an array of shopping, restaurants, nightlife, and an active fashion scene. If you prefer solitude to the attractions of the big city, you can escape to the mountains of Japan for a retreat, and visit ancient locations, full of history.

New Zealand

Not only is this pristine island country one of the safest to visit, but it offers an interesting additional feature to keep visitors secure: If you suffer any accident or injury while visiting New Zealand, drop by the local hospital and receive top-notch care free of charge under the country’s Accident Compensation Scheme. Come see the country where some of the most beautiful movies, including the Lord Of The Rings trilogy, have been filmed, and know that you are not only safe but covered if something unfortunate were to occur.

Norway

If you love camping, hiking, and the rugged beauty of the outdoors, Norway is for you. Bring your backpack, and camp freely on any land in this fjord-filled country. A fjord is a place where high elevation terrain drops sharply off into a stream of water, and these locations are fantastic places to watch for whales and other marine wildlife. Whether safety or adventure or both are your priorities, our caring staff at elm Planning can help you plan the best possible experience. Now that travel for pleasure and business is rebounding from the pandemic, approximately 14,000 flights in the US were recently cancelled or delayed due to the lack of pilots, carriers, and other staff.
