Amenities to Consider When Choosing a Hotel

When booking hotels for conferences, people tend to overlook the importance of great amenities. If you are choosing a hotel to host a meeting or event, you need to contemplate the amenities your attendees will want. Here are some things to consider:
Location
A great location attracts attendees because they can use your conference as an excuse to visit a new place. Most people appreciate a good view from their hotel room. Being away from home can be difficult and having a scenic view to wake up to can ease the pain of being on the road.
The Bar
Conference-goers will almost always spend a good slice of time in the hotel bar. Look for a hotel with a high quality bar. If possible, get the hotel to do some signature cocktails related to your conference. Live music is also a great amenity. Rooftop bars, poolside bars, arcades, and other less usual bar amenities can help attract attendees and give them a place to relax.
Local Amenities
Is there anywhere to eat other than the hotel restaurant? Attendees who are staying several days will appreciate having options. It’s also good for attendees if there is a drugstore nearby where they can easily get emergency supplies such as band aids, toothpaste, etc.
Breakfast
If you can find a hotel which provides complimentary breakfast, or with which you can make a deal to get breakfast included in the block rate, do. Free breakfast saves attendees money and hassle. Also, make sure the hotel offers free coffee/tea in the lobby. Some hotels in warmer climates now put out fruit water, which is great for hydration.
Internet
Many attendees will be, rightly, angry if they are not provided with free high-speed wifi. This includes attendees who are not staying at the hotel. Watch out for hotels that provide this amenity only to paying guests.
Pool and fitness centerPool and fitness center
These days, many of your attendees will live healthier lifestyles. The hotel having a pool, fitness center or, ideally, both will help them keep up their routine while out of town.
Choosing a hotel with the right amenities will help you attract and satisfy your attendees and give a good overall conference experience. Elm Planning would love to help you plan your next meeting, contact ustoday!
