Going green with your meetings not only reduces waste and cost but it also builds a reputation that you are an eco-friendly organization.

Here are some ideas by VM Events:

START WITH A SUSTAINABLE PLAN

Everyone knows that careful planning is the key to a successful meeting. Just the same, hosting a sustainable meeting should be well-planned. Prepare an outline on how you want to achieve your goals. Gather your team and discuss ideas and feedback.  A well thought out meeting results in a positive impression on your audience and your client.

GO ELECTRONIC

Lessen the amount of paper for your event by looking alternative solutions. Today’s technology offers other ways to forego paper. A great example is utilizing  online registration and  digital signage.

REUSE, REUSE, REUSE

Steer clear of using materials that cannot be reused and choose recyclable materials. Look for suppliers that lean towards green practices and hire them instead of traditional sources. Check with your venue if there are any recycling programs that theyparticipate in, find out you can take advantage of it and how they can be incorporated in your meeting.

You can lessen waste by not overdoing the amount of food at meal functions. Source vendors and suppliers who are committed to providing sustainable materials and follow green practices.  Their experience and knowledge can help you in your quest for a more sustainable event.

Seeing smiles on your attendees as they leave the event is highly rewarding. Planning and executing a sustainable event is not only a fulfilling experience but also adds value to the local economy, and educates participants about the benefits of eco-friendly practices.
