Planning a meeting or event is daunting on a modest budget…especially when it comes to fine tuning the details like food and beverage options. But there are a plethora of fun food and beverage ideas for clients with modest budgets available.
- Do not have servers. While the idea of servers waltzing around your event with shining silver trays of hors d’oeuvres probably sounds tempting, your guests aren’t worried so much about how their food’s served, they just care that it’s there! Cut the cost of servers and lay out your food on easily accessible tabletops.
- Choose one signature drink. Everyone loves a festive, themed drink that relates to the occasion. Choose an appropriate name and popular ingredients for the mix and you will not only save money by limiting the drink options but delight attendees with your creativeness.
- Have a sweets bar. Hiring an exclusive bakery to make a huge cake (or even cupcakes) will cost you much more than heading to your local grocery store and picking up lots of yummy wrapped candies. Place them in pretty, differing size glass jars with labels and let your guests pick what they like. These are also easier to transfer to and from the location.
- Do not overdo it on the amount of food. Not only will you save by purchasing less, you will lessen your waste when it’s all over. Meetings and events are notorious for having lots of food and drinks leftover and that’s just money down the drain.
- Have at least one vegetarian option available. Whether you are serving a full menu or just small snacks, going the vegetarian route is always more cost-effective than meat…and you’ll gain lots of bonus points from the vegetarian crowd who are typically limited in their options.
